I have a 2018 premium, an iphone x, i installed the subaru starlink app on my cellphone, not mysubaru, but subaru starlink app. You mentioned you can use the mysubaru app to lock and unlock so your starlink cellular system is working fine. Once connected, the android auto app will appear available to select (no longer grey).

You can utilize subaru starlink for subscribed vehicles, access vehicle service reminders, and stay up to date with subaru events with a swipe and a tap! The system is slow to respond and prone to freezing, locking drivers out of certain features. I turned off the bluetooth on the phone and connected with just the usb.

Magellan nav is supposedly one of them. That's a shame, because subaru's own clunky starlink app isn't quite ready for prime time. I get nothing on screen in the app.
Subaru introduced the starlink infotainment system for select 2016 models and it's been heavily criticized. Today as i was driving i plugged in my phone to use carplay but it remained grayed out. I've tried all the tips in this thread,but the starlink still doesn't open aa when his phone is connected.
Now go to the developer options and enable usb debugging. Is it just me, or is that the cr*ppiest program ever? I found this while looking up this common problem on other cars.
We've uninstalled and reinstalled the phone several times, changed the name & pin of the subaru bluetooth etc. The aa app remains greyed out. I tried the subaru starlink, and that “works” but the phone bluetooth works better imo.
My android auto has worked from day 1. In reality, it took forever to download information and frequently timed out. Now, i have a 2015 subaru legacy with the nav system, but only a galaxy note 2 and the app for mirror link on my phone just crashes out.
For models with the starlink system • press and hold down the audio system power knob for at least 10 seconds. It does nothing, does not work at all. But i realized my iphone only had the mysubaru app, not the starlink app.
Spoke to the salesman about the issue and luckily found a solution! Usb is the only connection used by androidauto (and carplay) in the subaru system. Working with subaru starlink multimedia, apple carplay is the smarter, safer way to use your iphone in your vehicle.
Kill the app or otherwise shut it down. Somewhere along the way i lost my phone book. In theory, it uses your phone's data plan to connect to the internet to access news, weather, and clear channel's iheartradio app.
Putt is enough to drive me crazy. Subaru’s starlink offers a suite of onboard technology bringing multimedia content with smartphone connectivity, navigation, and extra safety to subaru vehicles.
